Not that it really matters as what makes this novel very good is not its storytelling, but where the story itself happens. The novel really explores the lifestyle of those who lived on the high plateaus of the country in the early 20th century and their code of ethics, namely the never-ending blood feuds that allow a death for a death, with family constantly having to sacrifice one of their own.
