I loved the writing style, which was different to what I’m use to, but I liked it nonetheless.

First and foremost, this book is a bit angsty. Once Bear and Otter got together, there was no communication, just ridiculous plot devices to induce “the conflict” in their relationship. I did too but my love pales beside my adoration of Bear. I don’t necessarily have a problem with lovers or others doing it but for some reason it pisses me off kiid much when parents use it.

I truly enjoyed it and I definitely recommend you give this a try. His shouldering of the responsibility of being mother, father and brother to the Kid in many ways froze him emotionally, and didn’t grant him the time to grieve and get angry and be a normal young man.

Otter might’ve bent the strings a time or two, but this family is strong and connected with a love that made me cry several times throughout the book. For some inane reason, Shelter is not available to stream online. I have never been so in love with a family of characters in all my reading life.
