I think for the first time Feehan has written the true and likely behavior of her Carpathian.

There is the classic battle of the male mind versus the female mind, and with Carpathians, that can be taken literally. This was a very long book. So, how is it that, later in the story, Zacarias is expecting the vampire attacks because the Malinovs know their attack failed?? I loved every single word of Dark Predator from beginning to end. Words escape me about this book.
