It encapsulates counterinsurgenxy particularly relevant insights into the tactical, operational, and strategic challenges of counterinsurgency; plus it offers the most succinct overview of how to wage a global counterinsurgency anywhere. The use of brute force to counter insurgency is akin to a frontal assault on a machine gun position, it is doable, but you are going to pay dearly for it.
The most fascinating part of counterinsurgency to me is how it is essentially a war fought with ideas more than violence.
Unless you literally want to burn everything down until there isn’t anything left it is a poor choice for fighting a counter-insurgency. Fascinating book thought provoking and extremely relevant to the whole “war on terror”.
